Dear Ones,

We arrived in Pointe Noire on January 23rd right in the middle of rainy season!! Leaving Pittsburgh Int. Airport with 6 degree weather and snow, and arriving in Pointe Noire to hot, humid, 96 degree weather has been quite an adjustment. Kevin developed one of the worse heat rashes he ever had. We are getting use to the heat and life as it is here . Since our arrival the electricity has been off. A transformer was destroyed and there is no replacement at our local electric company. There is no news when it will be fixed. We are running our generator which means an extra expense of about $20 dollars a day. So for the month about $600 just for running the generator part time... Pray for provisions for this need, this is not in our budget. Last year when this happened our next electric bill was doubled and we didn't have electricity for 3 weeks.. So we sort of exspect the same thing to happen once this problem is fixed.. Pray..

Kevin began teaching 29 first year students at the Bible school in Pointe Noire. He is teaching the New Testament Survey Course. The students are very enthusiastic and eager to learn. Several times during the course when the Holy Spirit revealed certain truths from God's word the whole class began to clap in appreciation for just having learned a truth from God's word. A very humbling time for the teacher as he realizes that God is revealing himself to these men and women in a very powerful way..It is such a privilege to be able to speak truth into the lives of these students that come from a variety of evangelical churches in the city. It was also good to be able to see those students that have been promoted to 2nd year courses and also congradulate those who got their diplomas last June. God is building a force of teachers, preachers, and evangelists that will continue to minister in this land and elsewhere long after our ministries are finished here. It is such a privelege to be a part of those who are training these precious leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ in this land..

Now we have a VERY IMPORTANT request to pray for starting TODAY!

The College of Prayer will be held here in Congo for the second time in Brazzaville and the first time in Pointe Noire.  The Pointe Noire College starts Friday the 16th and goes until Monday the 19th.  Then the Brazzaville second College session will be from the 20th until the 23rd.  Then the team will travel to Kinshasa Democratic Republic of Congo for their first College of Prayer.  Pastors Joel Kangas and Carl Schmidt will be teaching these and Sharon Howell and Joyce will be translating. WE NEED PRAYER!!!  In the past God has used the College of Prayer to change His people, and to revive the church.   This time will be one of learning but mostly praying and  meeting God.

Please pray that God will draw those that should be there, to come.

Pray that the distractions that the Enemy wants to send will not work.

Pray for keen insight and discernment for Joel and Carl.  Mostly pray for three things:

  THE PROTECTION OF GOD

  A FRESH REVELATION OF JESUS

THE DIRECTION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

We long to see the Church in Congo purified. Pray that God will purify His church, starting with us. Thank you for praying for the cholera epidemic. Pointe Noire has had around 3000 people ill, and this disease has now spread to Brazzaville. Pray that God will intervene.

Wow, I've given you all quite the job to do....... WE COUNT ON YOUR INTERCESSION!!!!

LIVING THE CALL TOGETHER,

KEVIN & JOYCE MCCABE
