HAPPY NEW YEAR  2008

Very soon Jan. 13, 2008 WENDIE & SANFORD will be leaving Hawaii to begin another walk with God in returning to our beloved mission field of BRAZIL.  We will be returning to the city of PORTO ALEGRE, the southern state near the countries of Argentina & Uruguay.  

Can you find Porto Alegre on the map? 

 People there are called GAUCHOS or the cowboys of the south.  They love to drink herb tea called “mate” or “chimarrao” all day long.  Once you get to know them you’ll become like one of the family.  They are very loving and affectionate Brazilians.   Eating a huge chunk of Bar B Q   meat is a favorite  Sunday pass time.  We were there from 1984-1999 in a team ministry planting three churches and now we are returning to plant another church in the SOUTHERN ZONE OF PORTO ALEGRE.

We give thanks to God for His unspeakable  grace, love & power to guide us and meet our every need.  

We give thanks to Kapahulu Bible Church, its Pastor Jim Stern, staff  & congregation for their love, support, encouragement,   & many prayers.  A group put on a GARAGE SALE and raised over $1,200 to help us pay for Sanford’s medical bills.  They gave us many opportunities to speak, including doing their missions conference and recently raised $5,100 for our Car Fund.   

Many thank you to Moanalua Garden Missionary Church, Pastor Calvin Chinen and staff for their love and support too.  They provided us with their church vans during this home assignment.    They have loaned us these vans with no strings attached, “Just have it and be blessed!” that’s what they said.     We like to say, “ISN’T GOD MORE than good!” 

We give thanks to God for healing Sanford’s Rheumatoid Arthritis.  God uses Drs. & medication, but He has also, taken away most of the pain in Sanford’s body.     It still remains in his feet, hands & knees  but, with less pain. 

We thank God for the excellent Missionary Tours for both Wendie & Sanford: Western Pennsylvania for Wendie and for Sanford the North Eastern Coast (VA, MAS, NY, NJ, & Eastern PA & OH).  We were so blessed to have met so many wonderful Believers and for them to share their lives with us.  Wendie said, “When we get to Heaven, what a reunion we will have!”

                                         MANY HAVE SAID, “ HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?”

1) PRAY FOR US REGULARLY   Satan doesn’t want us to build NEW CHURCHES; neither does he want Brazilians saved, so cover us with the BLOOD OF JESUS.  Be committed to PRAY for us.

2) Support us financially through the GREAT COMMISSION FUND of the Christian & Missionary Alliance.  This covers our traveling back to Brazil, our medical & dental needs, schooling for missionary children and our administration needs. Write your contributions to the C&MA, PO BOX 3500, COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. 86935-3500.   In the MEMO: “HASHIMOTO-BRAZIL”.  This is Tax Deductable.

3) Give to the “WORK OF” fund to help us with the physical needs of our new church planting ministry: Sound Equipments, Gospel Tracks, Bibles & New Testaments, chairs, song books, children’s materials, Bible Study guides, Discipleship & Evangelism materials, etc.  Write your contributions to the C&MA and in the MEMO: “WORK OF – HASHIMOTO – BRAZIL”.  This too, is Tax Deductable.

4) If you want to give us a Personal Gift, write your contributions to the C&MA and in the MEMO: “PERSONAL GIFT – HASHIMOTO – BRAZIL”.  This is NOT TAX DEDUCTABLE.                         

                                                                           ANOTHER NOTE OF PRAISE!                                                  

Steve & Diane Renicks our long time missionary colleagues in Porto Alegre have found a 3 bedroom apt. for us.  PTL!!   It has a large living room (for an apt.) so we can hold Bible Studies and small parties as we try to win Brazilians to Jesus.  Our house hold goods are in storage in Sao Paulo, about 1,900 kilometers north of Porto Alegre.  A moving company will bring our things to us.

Most likely they will set up our beds, sofa & living room sets, but leave the rest of the unpacking to us.  We are excited to be returning to Brazil and to the CALL OF GOD ON OUR LIVES.
