Dear Prayer Warriors,

Well, we arrived back in the states last night and I just wanted to share with you some of what is happening with the foundation and with the women in prison as well as what is happening in Ecuador.

We had a wonderful trip!  The pre-filming for Dateline was done and now I will wait to hear from them about the next step.  Continue praying about this and God's will for this endeavor.

Laura and I were able to get her paper work  done and finally  we were able to get the necessary paper from the Ministry of  Education for her to get her diploma.  It should arrive from Loja to Quito today or tomorrow.  THIS IS A HUGE PRAISE AND THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS!

Also, while we were there the President of the country stated in public that he was going to send all women home who had less than two kilos of drugs when they were arrested.  If this is so Laura would be one of the first to go along with some of the others.  So please pray that he will register this decree and make it official.

Andrea and Lindi are both going to start on their parole soon.  Andrea wants to make the cards while she is on parole along with Maria from Brazil, May from Philippines, and Patricia from Belgium.  This is all in the planning stages so pray with us about this also.

Ron Higey, Judy Higey, Judy Natke, Don Ewan and I met in Ecuador to discuss the feasibility of starting a foundation.  We met one afternoon with Sharon Smith, Jim Smith, Wanda Talley, Ramon Talley, Ann Mangham, and Bill Mangham to share the vision and to let everyone know our hearts as well as to get input about the vision. Another day we met with Mary Hunter in Latacunga.

After much prayer, talking, meeting with the Director of the "Casa de Confianza" (half way house, Parole facilities) we felt we should proceed to work with aftercare when women get out of prison on parole.

Many of them are trapped by not having work, no way to live, not enough food and the bleak reality that getting a ticket back to their homeland is an impossibility.

The Director was so open and excited at the prospect of us helping with this need.  She is going to get the permission from the National Direction.  At the present time we are planning a trip in April to build a card room in the Casa de Confianza

So, our next step would be to do the paper work to start the "S.O.U.L.

Light Foundation."  Ron Higey is working on that with his wife Judy as well as get a team together to do the construction work in April.

Ron mentioned today that people are wanting to go.

I ask that you pray for us as we take these steps that God would be honored and glorified and that He would lead us each step of the way.

I want to wish you all a very Blessed Christmas and thank you for supporting this ministry through prayer and finances.  I want to thank the Colonie Alliance Church in Albany, NY for providing Christmas for the women again this year.  What a special gift this was for them and for me.

God bless each of you and I am depending on your prayers as we look to this year to see what God has for us personally and for the women in the prison in Ecuador.

Don and I appreciate every one of you!

 In His Service,

 Don and Joan
