"No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.

This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from  me, declares the LORD."

Isaiah 54:17

This verse immediately came to mind as we pulled up beside our new property for the Sector 27 church in Ouagadougou.  Several of our missionary colleagues had not yet seen the property, so we went out to see it and to pray over the land and for the Lord's wisdom in planning for the church's transition to this new site.

We happened to pull-up right beside this fetish sacrifice pictured below.  Steve spotted it and pointed it out to everyone.  That's when the verse came to mind.  This particular fetish is much like a booby-trap.  The egg is the triggering mechanism.  It is purposely placed on a path where the intended victim would kick-it or step on it, thereby breaking the egg and triggering the curse meant for the intended victim.  This, because of its location, was apparently set against the church's plans to build there.

We don't believe a Christian walking in obedience has anything to fear from this kind of witchcraft but we do think it is significant that we spotted it as we did.   It is a reminder of the Lord's protection and also of our need to be vigilant in prayer as we seek to do His will and accomplish His work.

Will you pray for us as we work with the Sector 27 church?  We need wisdom in transitioning to the new site and establishing a ministry in that neighborhood.

                                                                                    Yours servants,

                                                                                    Steve and Debbi

Prayer and Praise Requests:

1. Pray for Pastor Patrice as he ministers to the Sector 27 group of believers.

2. Pray for the resources needed for the transition.  Because the lot is not zoned for a church, we are planning to build a youth center in a multi-purpose building in which the church would also be able to meet.

3. Praise God for already providing almost half of what Debbi needs to attend the Africa Round Table conference in South Africa in March! We are grateful for this tangible show of support, and also for your prayers for this new ministry.

4. We leave this Saturday for a week of ministry at the Alliance Seminary in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. Please pray for our protection in this politically unstable country, and for the Holy Spirit's anointing as we minister to men and women from many different African countries.
