Dear Partners in Prayer,
The Africa Round Table is now history and I’ve returned home from my trip to Johannesburg! I’ve returned with my eyes opened to a vision of what God wants to do for the African continent, and for its children in particular.
ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) organized the conference and did an incredible job. Here are a few highlights of my trip that I want to share with you:
- There were 140 delegates from 33 African nations in attendance, as well
delegates from Western countries such as the U.S., Canada, Australia,
and France. Simultaneous translation took place in English and French
throughout the conference.
- We heard a convicting message from a converted Iranian about the rapid
advance of Islam and the threat it poses for the continent of Africa. We
were challenged to respond to this by planting Christian schools all over
the continent, passing on a biblical worldview to the next generation.
- Our delegation from Burkina (see photo below) had their eyes opened to the importance of hiring Christian personnel for their schools, training them in a biblical worldview, working in unity with other denominations in regards to Christian schooling, and multiplying the numbers of Christian schools in the country (at present the C&MA operates only a few schools).
It was a taste of heaven for me to meet so many wonderful Christian leaders from all over Africa and to experience the deep bond that unites our hearts for the lost and future generations of Africa’s children.
Please pray that God will show me my role in encouraging the church with which we work concerning the advance of Christian education. This is a great passion of mine, but I’m also involved in many other ministries and need discernment as to where to invest my time most wisely.
Some of you supported me financially to attend this conference and I want to thank you once again from the bottom of my heart. I would not have had the opportunity to attend if it hadn’t been for you!
In Christ,
Debbi
